Smooth Radio North West live – a regional music station, with all programmes and playlists created in the Smooth studio in Spinningfields. Although the station primarily caters to the Manchester audience, residents from other cities in England and English-speaking users from neighbouring countries regularly tune in. The station is owned by Global Radio, and management is handled by the same corporation.

Currently, the station's main focus is easy listening. However, this genre was not the initial choice. The radio began broadcasting as a jazz station, originally named Jazz FM.

After 10 years, interest in this musical direction waned, leading to a relaunch. From March 2004, the station adopted a new name and schedule. Initially, it operated for 7 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends, before transitioning to 24-hour broadcasting, including regional news in the schedule.
